MATCHA – FORGOTTEN SUPERFOOD
We are sure that you already know what matcha, matcha tea, matcha latte are.
Nevertheless, we want to tell you that matcha is not just another fashion trend, but primarily an ancient superfood that has a lot of useful properties.
Matcha is a type of green tea made from powdered young tea leaves. Unlike ordinary green tea, which is infused in water and then removed, matcha is simply whipped with hot water using a special whisk.
The leaves for the future matcha tea are grown in the shade, which promotes the production of more chlorophyll in the leaves and saturates them with nutrients. The leaves are harvested by hand and the stems and veins are removed. Traditionally, tea is grinded up with granite stones.
There are 4 types of matches:
- Ceremonial. The most expensive variation is made from young and tender shoots. It is it who is used in Buddhist temples and at elite tea ceremonies.
- Premium. The leaves for this type of product are harvested a little later, so the taste is more bitter than that above.
- Culinary. For the manufacture of this type of product, the raw materials collected last are used. A special feature is a rich tart aftertaste, which is perfect for baking, ice cream, chocolate, and pastes, which makes them not only tasty but most importantly, healthy.

FEATURES OF MATCHA TEA
- Matcha, like other types of green tea, is rich in antioxidants. Antioxidants are substances that slow down oxidation processes (including in the body). There is a hypothesis that antioxidants can prevent the destructive effect of free radicals on the cells of living organisms, and thereby slow down the aging process. This theory has not yet been scientifically proven, but it has many fans. Natural antioxidants are found in fruits and vegetables, as well as coffee, tea, wine, and chocolate.
- Matcha tea has 140 times more antioxidants than regular green tea since this type of tea is drunk with tea leaves. The Japanese themselves say that 1 cup of matcha replaces 10 cups of regular green tea.
The antioxidant epigallocatechin in matcha tea helps prevent cancer, promotes weight loss as well as has antibiotic properties.
- Moreover, matcha, according to some nutritionists, is a good prevention of cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, and varicose veins.
- In addition to the above, this superfood normalizes the nervous system, strengthens the immune system, speeds up metabolism, improves mental and physical activity.
- Matcha is an excellent weight loss aid: it increases the rate of fat burning by 40%, helps to reduce hunger, and reduce stress.
